Recent Work
Posts about my recent work. They're mostly pictures; so, feel free to take a look inside. There's a little text talking about where I was and what I was up to. I promise to keep it short, though. If you just want to see some of my favorite images from various places, visit my Galleries page.

One Amazing Evening
7/14/2025 It has been a few days, and it is still all I think about. On the 11th, I was treated to my first real Aurora Borealis. I was so excited. I do not even know how to express it. If I am being totally honest, this is not exactly my first. As kids, like 7 or so - young enough my parents were still together, I remember a night where the sky was totally red. I had no idea what it meant then or what it was even called. It was just late for us to be up, and we were a

The End and The Beginning
8/19/2020 and 8/22/2020 It feels like I had a busy weekend, but I was lazy all-day on Sunday. The photography started on Wednesday night, when I went for what is, arguably, the last decent night for Milky Way shots around here. Friday night, I drove to Michigan for a morning of shooting with a couple other Indiana photographers just over the state border. Wednesday was technically the day after the new moon. Work kept me from heading out Tuesday night, though. It is late

Lessons
7/24/2020 - 7/25/2020 The weekend started Friday night. So did my re-education. After years of photography, I thought I had put all my rookie mistakes behind me. Then again, last week, I showed up without a memory card in my camera. Carmen bailed me out on this one and gave me the card out of her camera. Writing it off as a fluke, I confidently checked for a memory card in my camera before walking out the door on Friday. Got to my location and turned the camera on....

They Say...
7/20/2020 They say that you cannot soar with the eagles if you are up hooting with the owls all night. Well, that pretty much seems true; at least at this point. I did not get much birding in this last weekend. I was up late a lot of the week and all weekend. There's a comet in the neighborhood, and I wanted a photo of it. They also that the average person will see 4 or 5 "great comets" in their lifetime. Roughly, one every 20 years. Give or take 10. A great comet is

Still Here! / Tetons and Yellowstone (Land and Stars)
It's been a while since I have had something to post. There was work before vacation, vacation, work after vacation, processing of photos, the wet weather, and excuses. That's all behind me now; at least temporarily. I have a couple more vacations coming up. On to more important things, though! Yes, I mainly do bird photography; so, starting with a set of landscape and night shots might seem a bit odd. I bought a Sony a6300 a couple years ago in the hopes of using it to

AZ Canyons
9/19/2018 - 9/23/2018 There's not much in the way of safety rails, and it was packed with people. Surprisingly, there appear to be very few accidents out here. At one point, a small rain shower moved through, and we were treated to a rainbow against the darkening sky. Sometimes, it pays to look behind you. The next day started our tours of the Lower and Upper Antelope Canyons. We started with the Lower Canyon, first thing in the morning. Around 1:00 PM, we did a tour of t
