I did not shoot every day this last week. On the days the weather was overcast, I got my camera out for some lunchtime shooting in the backyard. The maple tree is blooming, and I always love the look of the bright red buds. I do not have anything too exotic in my yard, but I have a nice mix of feeder birds that tolerate me on occasion. There's not much else to say. Enjoy!
Okay, there is one more thing to say. Friday, I wrapped work a little early and sat down to look out the window where I shoot. The sun had been coming and going for a bit, but it had clouded back up. I was just going to sit and watch for a bit, but I decided to pull out the camera and see what happened anyway. Imagine my surprise when the Northern Flicker came in to pose for a few shots! He even sang once. I kinda took a lot of shots.... He was really too close, but I am so happy he came in at all. He is eyeing the suet feeder that is hanging near the window.
In the past two weeks, this is the 5th woodpecker species I have photographed in the yard. Downy, Hairy, Pileated, and Red-bellied Woodpeckers and, now, Northern Flicker have all come by and posed for a shot. I could not be more excited. Pretty cool.
Thanks for reading,
Mike
