Whether you are talking about your plans for anything this year or just wondering how I took these shots, "out the window" is an accurate description. Like a lot of people, I practiced social distancing this weekend. I did make a quick trip out for a small walk at a park, but it was straight back home. All the shots here were taken in the backyard.
It's amazing what a difference a little sunlight will make. Zero sunshine the day these were taken, and it really mellows the background in the shots. Other than that, they were taken exactly the same way last weekend's shots were taken. The honeysuckle is really starting to leaf-out, and it's providing just a hint of green in some of the backgrounds. A couple more weekends, and it will be a much different story.
Thanks for reading,

Terry Gray and graverson356,
I used a Canon 600mm with a Canon 5D iv body to take these photos. Honestly, you do not need this level of equipment to shoot photos of these birds. They are my backyard feeder birds, and, as long as I stay somewhat hidden and out of their way, they will come fairly close.
The key things with these photos is exposure, lighting, distance, and angle. The location sits in the shade of the house; so, there's not any harsh lighting issues. When it is sunny, the background is all that is lit. On a cloudy day like this, the background is a bit darker. Since the lighting is constant, it is easy to get…
Your photos are spot on. So beautiful. I know people always ask "what camera do you have" thinking if they buy one that their photos will look like yours. It takes way more than just a good camera. I struggle to get a clear photo and am looking for a new camera. Any suggestions?
Wonderful shots! I'm thinking I REALLY need to clean my windows to get such beautiful shots through them! LoL!
Wondering where you live (I'm in Indiana...spring has not yet sprung here...) and what the red blooms are? That red really makes the photos pop! If you don't mind me asking, what is your camera/lens set-up?
Beautiful pictures! Love the lighting and detail.
